As early as 1985, camera was developed for automotive applications like replacing mirrors.  Fast forward to 2020, automotive industry is relying on cameras for applications range from driver convenience to mission critical autonomous driving.   Emerging camera products for automotive are driven by consumer demands, OEM vehicle needs and government regulations, e.g. rear view camera by US FMVSS111, DMS by Euro NCAP, trailer backup assist by consumers and OEMs.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • Existing and potential applications of cameras in vehicles
  • How innovation of consumer camera technology could benefit automotive cameras
  • Rear Autonomous Emergency Braking (R-AEB) by camera and camera system
  • Image quality requirements for different levels (L0 to L4/5) of cameras
